Prostatic calcification: slow-changing, observable, but not a final verdict

Basic situation
Mr. H, 55 years old, is a long-distance driver. During his physical examination, he was informed of “prostate calcification” and was told that there was no way to treat it. His main concerns are a thin urine stream, waking up twice during the night, and discomfort in his lower abdomen after sitting for a long time.

How should we tell him
Calcification resembles a scar-like change, and we cannot guarantee its complete elimination. What can be changed are the surrounding tissues: improved drainage, reduced inflammation, and alleviated symptoms. We ask patients to evaluate progress based on their function and comfort, rather than focusing on a single sentence on the ultrasound report.

Protocol and follow-up
In addition to the phased prescription conditioning, we also addressed the factors that caused persistent pelvic congestion: prolonged sitting, insufficient water intake during the day, and excessive water intake at night. After five months, his frequency of nocturnal urination decreased, and the discomfort in his lower abdomen essentially disappeared.
